What is Rapid Resolution Therapy?

Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) is a relatively new type of treatment for healing from trauma. Developed by Dr. Jon Connelly PhD, RRT it is designed to help individuals permanently overcome the negative effects of trauma with a fast and painless approach. RRT is often touted as a revolutionary treatment for trauma recovery and emotional healing.

How does it work?

The process – which often takes as little as one session – helps individuals get their lives back on track effortlessly. RRT combines guided imagery, stories, and multi-level communication to eliminate the challenging effects of trauma. By quickly getting to the root of the problem, negative and troubling emotions, thoughts, and behaviours are quickly replaced with ones that are healthy and positive. This is not emotionally painful as, unlike other therapies, it is not necessary to talk about the details of the traumatic event.

Rapid Resolution Therapy is a fast and effective solution to many of life’s challenges. Very few people manage to go through life without experiencing some trauma or other disturbing difficulties. Often these experiences lead to lingering effects which interfere with our abilities to enjoy life and be productive. Some of these lingering problems include anxiety, depression, panic attacks, phobias, grief, anger, guilt, betrayal, and obsessive compulsive disorder.

RRT is a pragmatic approach informed by science and philosophy. RRT shifts the way the mind processes information so that improvement in feelings, thoughts, and behaviour are natural and automatic. People report astonishment that the way they think, feel and respond to certain things has been transformed. They report feeling lighter and that they can no longer experience the turmoil that was weighing them down. They describe a sense of freedom and clarity.

Unlike other forms of treatment, with Rapid Resolution Therapy it is not necessary to relive past events or experience any pain. Trauma is resolved gently and painlessly. Any conflict which was blocking the desired change simply disappears. Because the root causes of problems are pinpointed and cleared, positive changes endure. Negative emotions and destructive patterns are eliminated. There are dramatic improvements in thoughts, feelings and behaviour.

RRT dramatically reduces treatment time because the work is done at a level involving both the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind. So, rather than spending months or years in many hours of weekly talk-therapy sessions, people often find relief within their first session of RRT.

What can I expect?

One session of Rapid Resolution Therapy can generally take between 2 and 3 hours.

A session may be shorter or it may be longer, depending on what comes to mind.

During the session, I spend as much time as we need making sure that I have understood how things have been for you. Once you are satisfied that I understand things, I explain RRT’s view of how our minds work. If that makes sense to you, we proceed. If it does not, we take the time we need to get on the same page.

Then, I will tell you where I think we are headed, and we take as much time as we need to make sure we are in agreement about how things will look when we are done with our session.

Once you are interested and excited about where we are going, and you are certain that I get it, I will take you through some relaxing visualization exercises to get primitive mind responding, since that is the part that needs to be updated.

You will be conscious the whole time and responding to what I am saying. You will remember everything that I say to you. You will never feel out of control or “out of it”.

As part of the process, I will clear up any impressions which were left by anything in your past that was “traumatic.” By that, I mean anything that still causes negative feelings, emotions or thoughts when you think of it today.

If you don’t know what past events are “stuck,” that’s okay because your mind knows what they are and they will come to you. People are often surprised, as what comes up may not seem to have relevance or be particularly “traumatic.”

For the last part of the session, we check in to make sure you are feeling better. At the end of the session, many people feel lighter, more joyful and happier.

People usually feel even better in the days following the session.

If required, follow up sessions can address other issues or can be useful if an issue has a long and complicated history.
